The Dawg Pound Had Its Moment

Cleveland hosted Pittsburgh at Huntington Bank Field in one of the NFL's oldest and most passionate rivalries. Deshaun Watson went off, the Browns defended their home field, and Tailgate America hit 5–0 on the tour.

The next chapter of the Tailgate America NFL Tour brought the journey to Cleveland, Ohio, for one of the oldest and most passionate rivalries in professional football: the Cleveland Browns against the Pittsburgh Steelers.

This wasn't just another stop on the schedule. This was Browns versus Steelers. Cleveland versus Pittsburgh. The Dawg Pound versus the Terrible Towel. And after experiencing the Pittsburgh side of AFC North football at Acrisure Stadium, Tailgate America was now heading into Cleveland to experience this rivalry from the other side. This time, it was the Dawg Pound's turn.

From the beginning, Cleveland had a completely different personality. Orange and brown filled the area surrounding Huntington Bank Field. Browns jerseys were everywhere. Fans were gathering throughout downtown, and the energy continued building as kickoff approached.

But Pittsburgh traveled. Steelers fans came into Cleveland wearing black and gold, bringing their Terrible Towels and making sure everyone knew they had arrived. That immediately added another dimension to the experience. This wasn't simply a stadium filled with Browns fans waiting for another football game. There was a rivalry in the building.

These two fan bases know each other. They've been watching their teams battle for generations. They've experienced the wins, the losses, the heartbreak, the celebrations, and all the history that comes with one of professional football's longest-running rivalries. When Cleveland and Pittsburgh play each other, all of that history comes with them. That's exactly the kind of football culture Tailgate America was created to document.

By this point in the journey, every stop had developed its own identity. Canton introduced the history and legends of professional football. Detroit brought the regular-season NFL stadium experience. Buffalo introduced Tailgate America to Bills Mafia and the legendary Hammer Lot. Pittsburgh delivered an AFC North battle inside Acrisure Stadium. Now Cleveland was introducing the tour to the Dawg Pound.

And once the game started, Cleveland gave its fans plenty to celebrate. Deshaun Watson went off. With the pressure and intensity of the Browns-Steelers rivalry surrounding him, Watson stepped up and helped lead Cleveland throughout the game. The Browns were playing with confidence. The crowd responded. And every time Cleveland made another big play, the energy inside Huntington Bank Field climbed another level.

But Pittsburgh wasn't going away quietly. That's not how this rivalry works. The Steelers fought. Cleveland answered. Momentum moved back and forth. And every important play seemed to carry a little more weight because of the opponent standing on the other sideline.

That's one of the biggest differences between watching rivalry football on television and actually standing inside the stadium. You don't simply watch momentum change. You feel it. Every third down gets louder. Every defensive stop creates another explosion from the crowd. Every offensive breakthrough gives the stadium another burst of energy. And when the visiting team makes a play, thousands of traveling fans suddenly remind everyone that they're there too.

The Steelers fans made noise. The Dawg Pound answered. Cleveland kept fighting. Watson kept making plays. And when the biggest moments of the game arrived, the Browns found a way to finish the job. Cleveland got the win. The Browns had defended their home field against Pittsburgh.

For Browns fans, beating the Steelers is never simply another victory on the schedule. This rivalry means something. And when Cleveland finished the job, you could feel exactly what that victory meant throughout Huntington Bank Field. The Dawg Pound had its moment.

But there was another storyline developing alongside the football game. The Tailgate America streak. Five games. Five winners. 5–0. Tailgate America had now reached five games on the NFL Tour without taking a loss. What started in Canton had now carried through Detroit, Buffalo, Pittsburgh, and Cleveland — and the home team had won every single time.

The Steelers fans made noise. The Dawg Pound answered. And when the biggest moments arrived, the Browns found a way to finish the job.
